In reply to the reader who asked where s/he could get a manual for a 1973 Chevrolet station wagon: I ordered a manual for my 1973 Pontiac Grandville from: Helm, Inc. Service Publications P.O. Box 07130 Dearborn, Michigan 48207 This is the official factory manual. It cost about $7.50 and was shipped within a few weeks via U.S. Mail. I have also ordered other manuals from them with similarly good results. Tools for your trunk: Way back when, net.auto was abuzz with a discussion of what supplies/tools to carry in one's trunk for emergencies. I ordered a number of cheap tools from: Harbor Freight Salvage Co. 3491 Mission Oaks Road Camarillo, California 93010-5096 (805)-338-3000 or (800)-423-2567 Among the things I picked up were 6 screwdrivers: $2.50, 5 piece plier set: $7.50, 70 piece combo wrench set: $3.99, 3 piece locking plier set: $6.50. These tools are obviously not extremely high quality, but for around $25 or so, one could probably pick up a set of usable tools for emergencies without breaking one's budget. I was quite happy with my dealings with this firm. I have no financial interest in either of these firms. -- Mike^Z Zaleski@Rutgers [allegra!, ihnp4!] pegasus!mzal
