To take advantage of DR DOS 5.0, I decided to re-FDISK that disk with windows (an 80MB Conners IDE), consolidate the three logical drives into one. I reloaded windows from scratch, using the new drivers, and everthing worked fine. Thanks for the feedback. ============ DR DOS and WIN 3.0 Swap Disk: One strange thing that did happen, not related to this problem, was that I seem to have problems with DR DOS and the "386 Windows 3.0 swapdisk". Current config is a Western Digital 40MB IDE drive as the main drive with DOS 3.3 overlaid with DR DOS 5.0, consisting of two partitions, C and D. The slave disk IDE, E, is now FDISKed via DR DOS. When I reloaded Windows onto E, and then added a permanent swap drive of 4MB on the DR DOS FDISKed disk, I ran into some strange "disk full" errors when re-installing other software (like AMI Pro), even though "du" showed >70Mb free! A removal of the swap disk and a reboot seemed to solve the problem. I now have the swap file on the D partition. I was going to FDISK the C and D drives into one C drive via DR DOS FDISK, but now I am concerned the windows swap disk won't work with DR DOS. Anybody have some input. Anyone know of a disk de-fragmenter that works with DR DOS 5.0? -- Marc Ries (ries@venice.sedd.trw.com)
