[comp.windows.ms] ^D in PS file created by win3?

Hi Netters,
 DOes anyone have any idea why windows puts ^D at the begining of the postscript file when forced to print to a file?
 I am using the Micrographics driver to create the postscript file to print to a laser printer on a NeXT. But unfortunately NeXT does'nt like that ^D.  Even the DOS2UNIX of PC-NFS does'nt seem to take care of it.
