>> Does anyone know about the Aida computer language used in Sweden?
Last summer at the MUMPS Users Group convention in Philadelphia, there
was a demonstration of a Database management system called Aida,
written in MUMPS by J.S. Duisterhout and B. Franken of the Dept. of
Medical Informatics, Free University, Amsterdam, Holland.
Aida stands for Applied Interactive Design of Applications, and
consists of a set of modules designed to speed up development of
medical research applications. It's basically a program generator
which allows the application developer to create a relational database
with data entry screens which validate and file data items.
One of the most interesting features of Aida is the fact that it's
designed to be language independent. With very little effort the
programmer can alter the system so that the prompts appear in French,
German, Dutch, English, or any other language the system knows about.
For further information on Aida contact the authors listed above. For
further information on the MUMPS language contact the MUMPS Users
