Tried Microsoft tech support but the technician only supplied standard answers. Tried all the suggestions but still cannot get my clone to run Windows 3.0 in standard mode. Real mode works fine until I put HIMEM.SYS in. Then I get opening screen and hang when running real mode. Running standard mode gets opening screen then reboots computer. Configuration: DTK (Datatech) 286 with Chips & Technology chipset, BIOS version 3.25 ELT VGA Plus 16 based on Paradise VGA chipset Adaptec RLL controller Miniscribe 3065 formatted with Disk Manager 640K base RAM, 384K shadow, 512K extended RAM CONFIG.SYS device=himem.sys device=dmdrvr.bin files=30 buffers=20 shell=c:\command.com /p /e:400 AUTOEXEC.BAT nothing interesting. No TSR's. Things tried: 1. disabled ROM shadowing 2. locked in display adapter mode 3. tried all 8 machine types in HIMEM.SYS The problem seems to be with HIMEM.SYS not playing with my hardware configuration. If you have any suggestions, please mail them.
