[comp.windows.ms] LANtastic Network and Windows 3.00a

I am in the process of trying to get an unusual setup working using LANtastic
and Windows 3.00a. I realize that the Lantastic software will not operate in
386 enhanced mode. However, this statement does not seem to be true for
LANBIOS.EXE. What happens is that I load LANBIOS (V 2.01) on both machines.
This is the ONLY thing that I load. I then start up Windows in 386 enhanced
mode (with emmexclude=a000-efff). I then start up a DOS Box and begin running
the network SQL database server that I have (which uses NETBIOS). I then go to
my second machine (or another DOS Box running on the same machine) and start up
my application that communicates with this server. If I run everything on the
same machine, or on very homogenous machines ( using MC boards and LANBIOS
V2.01 ), then I have reasonable sucess - it works 33.33% of the time. I got
much improved success when I set "netheapsize=76" in SYSTEM.INI. However,
eventually, the machine goes kaput. If anyone can give me any hints as to
what I need to do to get this working well, it would be greatly appreciated.
Since it works some of the time, I'm sure that it can be done somehow.
The same setup works perfectly when I use IBM PC LAN v1.3 on a token ring
network.
(By the way, I'm using Lantastic version 3 software it just happens that their
lanbios drivers are still numbered in the 2's. )

thank you,
