Ok, so here I am, doing a few comparisons of my own on older vs. newer 'sports' cars. I look at a '66 GT350 spec sheet, and it claims 306 bhp. Now I look at a '84 Mustang 5.0 spec sheet, and it claims 175 bhp. But wait, the 175 is 'net' and the 306 is 'gross.' Or is it? Confusion sets in. Could someone please set me straight on this. Are newer hp ratings really based on hp *to the rear axels*, after *all* parisitics are removed? If so, how do they measure it? If not, do we blame emissions controls for the fact the no one can build engines that put out hp like they should? -- ***dan {allegra, astrovax, princeton, twg}!fisher!djl The misplaced (You call *that* a ski slope??)
