Two problems : 1) Can't exit out of DOS Prompt after starting it in Window Standard mode. Actually the Window comes back in a very weird state: the screen is black except for the title and menu bars, and the system hangs, i.e. no control from keyboard or mouse, and has to be rebooted. 2) Can't start Window in enhance mode, the Window logo comes up and goes away with system complains "ERROR: Cannot install the 386 enhanced mode Expanded Memory driver". System description: Everex 386/20 Panasonic VGA monitor with Paradise VGA card (I modified the SYSTEM.INI file according to README.TXT) 4MB of memory (conventional and extended) 2MB of memory from Intel Above Board (configured as expanded only) content of my config.sys file DEVICE = C:\DOS\EMM.SYS AT 208 ND BREAK=ON BUFFERS=10 FILES=20 LASTDRIVE=E SHELL=C:\DOS\COMMAND.COM C:\DOS /P /E:512 DEVICE=C:\C600\BIN\HIMEM.SYS DEVICE=C:\C600\BIN\SMARTDRV.SYS 1024 256 DEVICE=C:\DOS\ANSI.SYS INSTALL=C:\DOS\FASTOPEN.EXE C:=(50,25) DEVICE = C:\UTIL\OX.SYS DEVICE = C:\C600\BIN\RAMDRIVE.SYS 2048 /e Concerns : 1) when I execute the mem command the system returns the following: 655360 bytes total memory 655360 bytes available 468496 largest executable program size 2097152 bytes total EMS memory 2097152 bytes free EMS memory 3538944 bytes total extended memory 0 bytes available extended memory Inside Windows Standard mode, About reports 1276K free memory and 85% free system resources. How come the system can't see or use all the memories? I would appreciate if you can emails the answer back to me if possible. Thanks. Aileen Hsu
