[comp.windows.ms] 386SX with fast video or DX with run-of-the-mill video?

I'm getting ready to purchase/build a machine to
run Windows, and am trying to decide whether a
386 SX with fast video (Orchid Prodesigner II) would
be adequate. How would such a machine perform com-
pared to a 386DX (25 Mhz, no cache) with a run-of-
the-mill 16 bit SVGA card? At work I use an IBM 55SX
and its speed seems adequate except for one thing:
it takes forever to redraw a windowed non-Windows
app, especially when popping up from minimized
(launced but iconized). As I use NCSA Telnet (Win-
QVT/Net doesn't have a host mode), InfoSelect and
Wordperfect 5.1, all windowed, this is a big problem
I'd like to avoid on my new machine. Would a faster
processor work better than fast video?
