[comp.windows.ms] SMTP mail for Windows?

ntaib@silver.ucs.indiana.edu (Nur Iskandar Taib) (02/24/91)

I'm just wondering if anyone knows of a way to receive
SMTP mail on a PC running Windows. It makes sense that
if a PC is on the Internet and is running a mail receiver
package 24 hours a day, it could then receive mail sent
to it. If you're running Unix on the box, that is a given,
as Unix includes the mailer as part of the OS. Well, since
we now have Windows, we could set up the mailer to run
as a task under it. Now, _sending_ mail might be a dif-
ferent kettle of fish altogether...

Try looking for a copy of the ka9q NET or NOS package at your favorite
archive. It will handle SMTP, FTP and TELNET and can run under
windows. It can both send and recieve mail. Freemacs has a RMAIL
mode that can be used as well but I don't believe that freemacs will
run under windows.
