I have installed Windows 3.0 on a 386SX machine and can't get any non-Window applications to run as a window under Enhanced mode. Even Command.Com has the problem - if you start the application as a full screen everything is just fine. However, if you use Alt+Return to put the application into a window, the window is created.... and then displays a message "System Integrity violated - application is terminated. Stop all applications and re-boot" when you press the first keystroke. Attempts to start the application in a window (from a .PIF) cause the message to be displayed as soon as Windows starts the application. The machine is a Taiwanese clone with the following configuration... 386SX @ 16MHz using Chips & Technologies chipset 4 MB RAM AMI BIOS Everex 673 VGA + monitor WD 1003 Hard Disk controller + 80MB MFM drive I've found that I have to configure Windows in EGA mode since in VGA my monitor wont accept the mode selected by Windows. I've tried Microsoft's Tech support but they are unable to help. Anyone seen this before and/or fixed the problem ? I've tried everything I can think of but cant get the darn thing to work.
