I just entered the exciting world of Windows. Trouble is, I can't figure out which mouse driver to use with my Genius mouse. Am I going to have to get me a Microsoft mouse or what? I configured them as the Mouse Systems Mouse/or VisiOn connected to the appropriate port (has to be either com1 or com2, I've *always* used com1). It works... However, it is not a great mouse, there is a distinct time lag between pressing the button (LBUTTON_DOWN), and the application/windows registering that the left button is down. Causes a lot of errors. However, the Genius Mouse is shipped with a lot of systems, so I guess there are lots of people who use it. I'd suggest that if you have the $$ get either a Microsoft mouse, or (my favourite), a Logitech. (I do *not* want to start a flame war on which is better: I use both. However, I also use Parc Place's Object works, which runs better on a logitech.) kartik -- Anant Kartik Mithal akm@cs.uoregon.edu Research Assistant, (503)346-4408 (msgs) Department of Computer Science, (503)346-3989 (direct) University of Oregon, Eugene, OR 97403-1202

If you have a switch on the front of the mouse slide it to the 2-button mouse option. Otherwise just hold down a button when you turn your computer on. This sets the mouse to be in MS MOUSE mode. (Actually, you may still have to run GMOUSE, but I am not at home to test it out and I have 2 computers with 2 GENIUS mice. However you c a n use your mouse successfully and I prefer it to the MS MOUSE) Ray -- University of South Australia | Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose. P.O. I want to thank all those who sent me mail regarding the Genius mouse. It worked when I ran the included GMOUSE.COM and selected ms-mouse in the setup. It somehow didn't occur to me to try it, because I heard somewhere that MS-WIN bypasses all drivers and just wants to use it's own mouse.drv. Thanks again,y'all Kari -- Kari Hardarson | Twas brillig and the slithy toves 217 Jackson Circle | did gyre and gimble in the wabe... Chapel Hill, NC 27514 | (Jabberwocky by Lewis Carroll)
