[comp.windows.ms] Making ICONS for all files in a directory

danf@cbmvax.commodore.com (Dante Fabrizio) (03/06/91)

Does any one know of a public domain or shareware
program that could be used to make icons for all files
in a directory?

One way to accomplish this in a program might be to
check the file extensions in a selected directory.
If the extension is one of a list of iconable file
types then the selected xxx.grp file would be modified
to include the ICON information for that file.

Looking for ideas and suggestions.

Thanks

Dan Fabrizio

I've heard similar complaints from some ex Mac and Amiga users.
I'll go a step further: how about an application that sits around
watching the disk usage, then automatically updates specified
groups when certain types of files are created or deleted? So,
for instance, all /Bob/*.doc files would be put in the DOCS
group as they are created. This would be much easier then
messing around with the much hated file manager every time you
create a file.
So...any bored windows programmers out there? Or is this
sitting in CICA and I haven't noticed?

                         Thanks in advance...James Harold
