Hi, I have some problems here and would like to hear your suggestions. I have a SVGA board installed in my 386SX. The VGA is an 8-bit, 256K OAK Tech. board, the 386SX is an IT (Informtech, Hong Kong) board, with 4Mbytes installed. The system was purchased about 2 years ago, so there is no driver for Win3 on the utility disk. I use the generic SVGA driver from cica.cica.indiane.edu in the sv800.arc archive. In the 800x600 mode all windows applications work fine too. If I try to run a command.com session in a window in the 386-mode, the system crashes immediately. Only the reset button brings the system up again. I can run a command.com session in the fullscreen mode, but the system crashes in the same way upon exiting the session. I tried to find out if there is an incompatibility with any TSR programms, without any success. I tried also an EMMexlude line in the system.ini file. In the standard VGA mode with the standard VGA driver everything works fine. Can it be a software bug in the generic VGA driver? Can it be a hardware bug? Can it be a software bug in the BIOS of the VGA board? In the next few days I will try to install another VGA board and run it with the same generic VGA driver to see what happens. Until now I could not find a Win3 driver for this board. There is one on cica.cica.indiana.edu (named OAK_800.DRV, that I suppose is for this board) but it seems to be truncated. It has a size of about 2.5KBytes. All other display drivers for Win3 have a size of about 72KBytes. I would appreciate any responses and I thank you in advance. ________________________________________________ Anastassios Gavras, GMD-FOKUS Hardenbergplatz 2, 1000 Berlin 12, Germany Tel.: +49 30 25499263 FAX.: +49 30 25499202 e-mail.: gavras@fokus.berlin.gmd.dbp.de ________________________________________________
