This group seems to always be dealing with problems with windows... I thought for a change, I could tell you about my experience with a DOS window on a 386. I bought a package that does a software emulation of a HP Laserjet printer. (Needed since I have a DOS application that only supports that printer). Each time I installed the package (LaserTwin by Metro software) it hung my machine some time after I began printing. I talked to their tech support who thought that ANSI.SYS must be conflicting with their package (I was not impressed that they hadn't anticipated users needing ANSI.SYS) With all device drivers removed from my config.sys it still didn't work. I got an idea, what happens if I install it within a DOS session under windows/3? It WORKS!!!! I have actually found something that will not run (for me) under vanilla DOS but works under a DOS window... Neat package, by the way, makes your dotmatrix/inkjet emulate a laserjet... even handles downloaded fonts! JJ Strybosch This is my view, UWO might not agree, Rustion will not agree.
