Hi there, it's been a while since I've read this group, so: I'm having trouble getting NetWare and enhanced mode at the same time. Our system has been upgraded to NetWare 386, so I'm pretty sure ipx, net3 etc are all up to date. When I run ipx, net3, win -3 I get enhanced mode but I can't get to the net. When I run ipx, net3, netbios, win -3 Windows starts, but then drops back into dos, leaving me in graphics mode. Enhanced mode is fine without the net. I have tried some of the manual's suggestions to allocate more memory for DMA and net stuff, but it didn't work. So far I have not tried using EMMExclude (I'll try it Monday). I *think* excluding some memory between E0000 and F0000 may help. There is 128k of shadow ram. It gets marked read only by the bios after the bios is copied in. I am not sure where the shadow ram is. Any ideas? It may be overlapping the ROMs but who knows! I have: NetWare 386 an AST 386SX/16. It has a weird bios. It uses shadow ram, which screwed up standard and real mode until I fixed it with a HIMEM.SYS switch telling it not to disable shadow ram. VGA Wonder+ card NE2000 (Novell) EtherNet card Nothing weird (as far as I can see) in config.sys or autoexec.bat (no QEMM) As far as I know, the System Administrator has set up SHELL.CFG properly. Basically, everything's pretty plain. Any general (or otherwise) about NetWare would be appreciated. Have I missed some upgrades? does Windows 3.0a patch something for Novell? Thanks bunches, John Paul Morrison

Well, the ipx and net3 may not have been the Windows-compatible versions. You can get these from lan_stuff.ucs.indiana.edu. Here is what I have in my network prep batch file: WD8003e 96 3 (packet driver for WD8003e) ipx_pkt3 (new ipx) pktint (packet interface for WinQVT/Net) xmsnet4 (I believe there is a xmsnet3, by why don't you go to DOS 4 anyhow?) f: login langrp@wcc/ c: win You also ought to have the Novell support installed in Windows. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Iskandar Taib | The only thing worse than Peach ala Internet: NTAIB@AQUA.UCS.INDIANA.EDU | Frog is Frog ala Peach Bitnet: NTAIB@IUBACS ! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
