[comp.windows.ms] Accounting Package for Windows 3.0

9531fost@ucsbuxa.ucsb.edu (03/13/91)

Does anyone know of a good to great rated accounting package made
for Windows 3.0. The package should be able to keep accuate records
for a medium sized company ($400K-$600k gross/year) and also keep
track of inventory and invoices.

Thanks for any help.

P.S.
If you don't know of a good one that runs under Windows, how about
a good one that simply runs under DOS.

Our company is using ProfitWise by Solomon Accounting Software.
This is not a Windows package, but it runs quite well under
Windows. The package is a full blown accounting system and
requires some time to setup and learn. Once I got passed the
learning curve, this package has been quite easy to use and
handles everything (invoicing, job costing, payroll, AR/AP,
general ledger, and inventory). I use the invoicing, payroll,
accounts receivable, and general ledeger. Everything is well
integrated, and fault tolerant. The price is about $150 mail
order. They also have an upgrade version for large businesses
called Solomon. This package came recommended by our accountant,
and is really oriented toward an account/book-keeper. It prints
all the quarterly and annual tax reports. Like I said, the
learning curve is steep (I had no accounting background), but the
package does everything, and the price is reasonable. Most
importantly, the package provides a fully auditable book-keeping
system. I looked and MYOB and several other packages, but they
just didn't stack up with the features and reporting facillities.

Good Luck.
