Greetings folks. I'm having problems with Excel running its tutorial from a Netware file server. It occurs when the tutorial loads one of the sample files and cannot do so, giving the message 'Can't find 'SALES.XLS'.' despite the fact that the file has just been displayed in the file selection box. Upon further investigation, I found that it was impossible for a user to open any file that was stored in a read-only directory of the server unless the user clicked the 'read-only' button on the open file dialog. The same old 'Can't find XXX' message would appear, even though the file had just been double-clicked from the file selection list. So, what gives? Does the user of Excel on a network need to be able to lock a given file before opening it, thus giving the above error if the file is set to be read-only? Is there any other way to get the tutorial to work from a network server? thanks in anticipation christian legg Christian Legg * For God so loved the world that he University Computing Services, * sent his only Son, so that he who University of Adelaide, South Australia. * believes in him shall not perish but Phone : (08) 228 5549 * have eternal life.
