Has anyone else really noticed that Windows is Deathly slow at disk reads? Even with the filesys set to ignore disk changes.... it still takes days to read from a floppy... and really longer than it should to read from a HD. If it were not for Disk Cache it would be rather excruciating to deal with. But the floppy problem is the worst. Why is it so damn slow? And has anyone come up with a way around this. The other day I was trying to look at a file on A: and someone happened to be downloading something from my BBS at the same time. The Dir read took close to 20 or so seconds, trashing the the download. This is a serious problem, and one I would like to see Micorsoft Address.
