Dear Netters, Often, when using the clipboard, the spike, or doing long mail merges in Word for Windows text appears in a font different to the one it was originally formatted with and which no longer even exists on my system. I used to use Fontware to give me screen fonts and soft fonts for my HP IIP. I had the Symbols A typeface package which created various character sets, including HP Math 8 and HP Pi Proportional. When I upgraded to FaceLift, I removed all the Fontware files from my Hard Disk, and removed all mention of them in any .ini files, and, of course, removed them using the Control Panel. I even deleted my winword.ini file and let Word rebuild it with all the new font information etc. FaceLift does not support either of the above character sets (HP Pi Prop or HP Math 8) but just one Symbols character set represented by two fonts, Symbol A Prop Serif and Symbol A Mono Sans. Nevertheless, despite the fact that, as far as I can discover, HP Pi Prop and HP Math 8 do not exist anymore and are not mentioned anywhere on my system, often when transferring text from one document to another using the clipboard, using the spike, or doing (long) print merges, text appears on screen in the Windows System font, and the Word ribbon states that the font is one of the two defunct non-existent fonts. This means that I have to then reformat that text. I can only think that these fonts are still mentioned somewhere in my document templates, and so have to be removed by saving the templates into RTF (if thats possible) and editing them each in turn (which I don't know how to do as I'm not sure what to look for and am frightened of removing something I shouldn't). Alternatively, maybe the information is stored in some other file. Does anybody have any ideas? Have your tried reformatting your defaults in NORMAL.DOT?
