Thanks to someone who sent me their address and phone numbers, I was able to get in touch with Trident's tech support this morning. They said that they would have the Windows 3.0 driver done by July 1. He didn't mention which ones, and when I asked how they were planning on distributing them (I mentioned that ATI and Paradise have made theirs available on Compuserve), he said that he didn't know. He did mention some kind of $30 upgrade fee because I bought a Logos Platinum board rather than one from them (I didn't realize that Trident makes and sells complete boards). Anyway, he said to call back next week. Please, please 800x600x256 driver.... Does anyone know where I can get the full set of Trident Drivers. It seems like ftp-sites have partial sets (eg. just for windows, just for Autocad, etc), but what I am looking for is the full 2-disk set. [slightly off the group topic -- sorry] Did anyone grab some of the other new Trident drivers from the Trident BBS? I'd like to have the WordPerfect 5.1 and Framework III drivers; but they're in a 600Kb zipfile, and it's *expensive* calling California from Ontario. Thnaks, --richard

Hmm a question concerning the trident drivers, please forgive me I am pretty new to windows. I loaded them from cica in the upload directory (tvga2b.zip). Now, I copied the drivers and the .gr3 and .386 files to the windows directory (what do these files do anyway ?). starting windows complains that the vddtgva.386 file is corrupt, it seems it was trying to execute it ? OK, so now I use the older vddtvga file I had. By the way, I included the file oemsetup.inf into the setup.inf in the system directory (phew!) That raised another question, which entities in oemsetup.inf does one really need to include ? Just the [display], what about the [VGA.GR3] ?? etc. Well.... next I started windows ... success !! so I selected change setup from inside windows - fine I see all the drivers. Now (I can't wait) I select 1024x768 with large font ( I have 1M on the card ) and restart windows ..... oops as I select OK the setup program starts to ask me for all sorts of windows disks (disk 4 for example) to load fonts. I dutifully comply and get to restarting windows. It then throws me into DOS (gasp!). Type WIN, get the startup screen, then a 'flash' then DOS again. windows is now dead. Hmmmmmmm try running command line setup inside the windows directory and select a lower resolution driver, ok, everything works but after selecting 'Accept configuration' and 'Update config.sys' (why by the way ?) the system hangs - its Ctrl-Alt-Del time. Now where did I put the backup tape ....... Those are my naiive attempts to install the new trident drivers at this time. Any advice would be MOST welcome.

I downloaded the TRIDENT Windows 3.0 drivers from cica.cica.indiana. They were the same as the ones that came with my card. 800x600x256 is not one of the included drivers. 1024x768x256 is. This seems to work on my machine by only in interlaced mode. Has anyone seen any additional drivers or know of a BBS number for TRIDENT???? I'm particularly interested in non-interlaced drivers. thanks in advance... -- Bill Ferro UUCP: mit-eddie!progress!billf Internet: billf@progress.com JANE...stop this crazy thing....HELP...JAAAAAAAAAAANE - George Jetson
