[comp.windows.ms] Fix for ST-296N and TSENG4000 1Meg VGA

katz@cs.ucf.edu (Katz) (03/26/91)

Simply adding the line
emmExclude=c000-e800
under [386enh] in the system.ini file fixed both problems.

It seems that if you don't do this, Windows tries to allocate memory at
those addresses. Unfortunately, this is where both the SCSI and SVGA
BIOS are located. When Windows tried to write to those locations, it
immediately dropped to DOS.

If you have any card which has extensions to the BIOS, you probably need
to do this.
