As anyone purchased the Crystal Scan SuperVGA monitor from Gateway. If so, does it work well with windows 3.0. If there much of a flicker problem?? Thanks -- Jonathan

the flickering on the crystal scan is horrible, but i think it's because of the low vertical frequency of the vieo card. when i use the 640x400 mode, which operates at 70hz, it's crystal clear. and that's why i have been wanted to upgrade to the vga wonder+.

I've been using the Gateway Crystal Scan monitor for about 6 months almost exclusively. I've detected no flicker and it works real well. -- |The Dark Knight's Table : Bill Loomis - via FidoNet node 1:282/31 |(612) 938-8924 HST V32 Minnetonka, Minnesota |Domain: Bill.Loomis@p30.f40.n282.z1.FIDONET.ORG

I own the same monitor on a Micro Geration system (OEM'd as "Continental Technology") and I haven't seen anything that comes close to it in sharpness and color quality. I also had a chance to work on a Gateway 486 that shipped with the new MAG Computronics NI, the non-interlaced version of this monitor. I had the impression that it was easier to read 1024-768 Windows text than on the Sony 1304HG. Colors were great, too. I have seen many screens (I work in a showrooom full of PC's, Macs and a NEXT), so my opinion is not based on a small sample. Except for the lack of autosizing (like on the NEC 3D), which causes a quite narrow 800-600 screen, there is hardly anything to criticize on the MAG-screens. I am just waiting for their 16" model to be introduced. It was referred to in PC-Mag two weeks ago, but not tested yet. Will Gateway bundle this screen with their high-end models? It would be an adequate video for windows workstations. Peter
