[comp.windows.ms] NEC/GS2A mono monitor at 70 HZ non interlaced

Is it possible to run a NEC/GS2A mono monitor at 70 HZ non-interlaced
(640x480,800x600)? Have _you_ done it? I am thinking of getting a
Diamond SpeedStar Tseng Et4000 chipset VGA board because it can do 70HZ, but
don't want to find out that my monitor can't sync to it. I currently
have a Paradise VGA1024 video board which generates lots of flicker on
the GS2A since it is 60HZ VGA refresh (58 HZ SVGA). Is there anyway to
get it to do 70HZ? Can the paradise driver be modified somehow, or is
this etched in chipset?

>>Editorial Comment<<

I think it sucks that companies are selling 60HZ vga boards as
useable. Any ergonomics person will tell you that VGA boards should be
designed so that 99.99% of the population distribution _cannot_ see
flicker, not the marginal crap that is being passed off as good
products, but which 50% of the world sees flicker. Ok i'm done
flaming, it's just that this flicker really puts me in a bad mood, see...
