[net.auto] Manual Choke Replacement for Broken old Auto Choke Needed!

sigma@usl.UUCP (Spyridon Triantafyllopoulos) (01/28/85)

Hi folks!
I am looking for a manual choke valve to replace the broken automatic
choke in my 1972 Toyota Corolla 1600. Due to dealer STUPIDITY, the
metal tube that passes through the exaust manifold and sences engine
temperature/operates choke is broken and I have the luxury of NOT
having choke at all (it is always open). The easy way is to replace the
manifold, but it will cost $$$$. I have seen mechanical chokes operated
by cable release from the driver"s place.
Do you know of any make and address that could fit the Toyota??? I
have seen one in K-mart but it is for US cars. Noone of the import car
parts stores around has anything like it.

Thanks in advance

I had a similar problem on my 76 Chevette. I solved it by purchasing
a general purpose manual choke cable from the local Canadian Tire
outlet for about $5.00. I found this worked well except for a slight
problem with cable freeze-up in winter.
