We are having a strange problem here. We have a Novell network, and one of the print queues goes to our Apple Laserwriter NTX (via appletalk connection) and theother goes to our IBM Personal Pageprinter II-31. The problem is this: running the Windows-supplied Write program, and printing a document to the Laserwriter works ok, but sending the same document (any document) to the IBM causes the printer to barf and spit out the power-up printout. At first I thought it must be just me, since I don't run with exactly the same configurations as everyone else. Another person here has the exact same machine as I do, and they could print stuff just fine on both printers. So I started trying to find the difference that was causing the problem. After trying a large number of different configurations of the various parameters and getting nowhere fast, I had a configuration which was IDENTICAL to the one which worked. Or so I thought, mine still didn't work. Then we noticed that he runs in standard mode, but I was running in extended mode. I restarted in standard mode and viola, I could print. He restarted in extended mode and blammo, printer garbage. Does this sound strange to anyone else? Any fixes or other potential problem spots? The document show up just fine under print manager, and under Novell's pconsole, it's just not getting out of the printer right. "I don't know about your brain, but mine is really...bossy."
