[comp.windows.ms] Does a utility to display .BMP without starting Windows exist?

eyu@umd5.umd.edu (Ellen Yu) (04/06/91)

The subject line says it all. I'm looking for a utility that will display
a paint BMP file (kind of like PCXShow) from DOS. I don't want to have to start
up Windows in order to display this file. There's a long explanation of why
I want to do this, but I don't want to have to put it here. We tried converting
the file to PCX, but we loose the resolution we would like.

Please e-mail responses. I will summarize if there is any interest.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Ellen Yu

Try Graphics workshop version 5.1. It won't display all bmp formats, but
it will display quite a few, and you don't have to wait an hour for
windows. As a bonus, it lets you do an amazing amout of conversions
for a pd program.
