You can't do either of these things, i.e. create your own icons or change the appearance of iconized DOS programs, using the basic programs supplied with Windows. There are many PD and commercial programs for creating icons. Somebody on the newsgroup said that was another PD or commercial program that would allow you to change the DOS icon but I don't remember who it was or how you do it. If you have some icons already defined, you can associated icons with DOS applications using the Properties menu in program manager, but this only affects their apperance in program manager, not when they are iconized.
