Well, of course that "Announcement from Microsoft" was meant as a joke. Nobody would seriously market Windows for Mac!!! Or would they? I was looking through the latest issue of Macworld and saw an article about the new Mac Clone operating system by NuTek. This interface is apparently compatible with Mac software, but looks a LOT different. 1)The menus, windows, and buttons have a 3-d, Motif look to them. 2)Instead of a menu bar at the top of the screen, menu bars travel within the window of the program they represent. 3)The Finder menu is not at the top of the screen either, but is accessible by clicking on the desktop. 4)By clicking on the button in the upper left hand corner of a window, one does not close the window, but rather gets a control menu. Does this sound REMOTELY familiar to anyone??? I dunno, it just struck me as funny. I haven't, by the way, seen this in person or even heard of any hardware that is running it -- I just saw pictures in MacWorld (I think the April or May 91 issue. It's got a big thing about Mac Clone on the cover.) Adam Elman elmanad@leland.stanford.edu

The MAC clone and GeoWorks ENSEMBLE are both based on the Motief look and feel. -- Bill Parke VMS Development decwrl!star.enet.dec.com!parke Digital Equipment Corp parke@star.enet.dec.com 110 Spit Brook Road ZK01-1/F22, Nashua NH 03063 The views expressed are my own.
