HELP! ... I have been looking at networking some 386 DOS/WINDOWS machines that we have around here. We have a TCP/IP network that has AT&T 6386's running UNIX. We would like to have the following services available from windows: 1 Remote login via either rlogin or telnet with terminal emulation (vt220 or vt320?) 2 File transfer ... FTP or RCP 3 Remote printer sharing using the UNIX printers and/or PC attached printers 4 Remote filesystem access from the PC's to the UNIX boxes 5 Support for ORACLE SQL*NET to allow the use of ORACLE*CARD on the PC's accessing a UNIX based database Currently, I have looked at and tried: WIN/QVTNET 1.5X (handles #1 and #2) FTP PC/TCP 2.04 (no direct WINDOWS support, but can do #1, #2, and #5 in a limited DOS window, limited to a single instance) I have looked at: PC/NFS 3.0 (I can not figure out if it supports windows 3.0, but it seems to offer #3? and #4) Basically, is there any software out there that offers the same support that Novell NetWare users get for TCP/IP? -- George Erhart AT&T Bell Laboratories att!archie!gwe
