I just received my brand new Boca Super VGA card w/1MB RAM. I
installed the Windows drivers and now everything is going haywire...
My configuration:
386-25 AT-clone, AMI BIOS, 8MB RAM, Toshiba 105&65 MB RLL
drives (not that this will make a difference), Boca SVGA w/ 1MB RAM,
MAG Computronic multisync monitor.
The problems:
The system absolutely refuses to come up in 386 Enhanced mode.
With any of the extended-mode drivers, the brag screen comes up, then
flashes about a second later, and then the screen blanks. Nothing
further comes up. Windows will come up normally in standard mode, but
I'm getting UAE's at the rate of about one a minute. Each time, it
freezes up the system and a reboot is the only alternative. This also
happens in real mode.
Diagnosis:
God only knows. I would guess it's the drivers or something
in the card's ROM. I don't believe that the card is DOA - I am
currently running UNIX with X11R4 up, and am utilizing the
(highest-resolution) 1024x768x256 mode as I write. It seems to be
working fine in this mode.
Any ideas?
Pat
