[comp.windows.ms] ScreenPeace and FMsound

jset_cif@troi.cc.rochester.edu (Jeff Setzer) (04/17/91)

Hi folks,

I'm having a few problems. First, Screen Peace locks up often on my
screen. It will run for a while, and the time is not constant from one
invocation to the next, but often the program freezes, and nothing short of
a hard reboot will get rid of it.

Second problem: I'm trying out the new FMsound driver and applications. My
problem is that I can't save my changes in SNDPANEL; the save buttons are
greyed. I do have the fm.ini file in my windows default directory, so that
isn't the problem.

My machine is a Packard Bell "Packmate" (80286-12, 1 meg RAM with NEAT
chipset). Any suggestions are appreciated.

The FMsound driver has been release in a demo version to most of the
major networks. I have a registered copy and that is fully functional. For the
price that these guys are asking, it is well worth the ~$30 they ask for.
I hope that if enough people support them, they will add the additional support
for the rest of the soundblaster features.

If you are a registered version, then the "About" boxes will say "Registered
Thank You".

If playing songs in background didn't screw up the DOS clock (it seems
to double the increment rate) it would be worth $30, hands down. In
fact if they'd add a keyboard and a CMF player it'd be worth
considerably more.

I also have the problem with saving my options.
