Hi!
Is anybody out there using HyperDisk and Win30 together sucessfully?
I've got HyperDisk 4.11 (commercial), Win30 (3.00a) and QEMM386 5.11
on a 8MB / 16MHz 386sx. (+SVGA, 1 IDE and 1 ST02 (SCSI) disk controller)
With this setup I can consistently reproduce the following :
Open Designer (3.01a), select Text, then Font... and voila! : UAE.
Replacing HyperDisk with SmartDrive reduces the number of UAE's
greatly. (I still get them now and then, though. (Yes, on the same
'Text' menu))
So.. Is this *only* HyperDisk, *only* Designer or a combination or....
I'd like to hear about your experiences with the mentioned programs.
(I hear HyperDisk is up to ver. 4.20, QEMM to 5.12 and that there's a
bug fix for Windows out. Is this something I should look into?)
I've EMMexcluded all I can, and added virtHDIRq(sp?)=FALSE etc.
Regards,
-Terje

For me, it's in using HyperDisk (version 4.20, BTW) and PageMaker 4.0. Frequently, when printing or converting PM 3.x files or doing other operations, I'd get UAEs. I stopped using HyperDisk (:^<) and the UAEs went WAY down. I'm REALLY dragged, since HD works great, as far as I can tell, and I HATE SmartDrive and I don't think it works all that well. The new version of Hyperdisk 4.20 is great. I works much better(faster) than Window's smartdrv.sys. It even releases memory so that one can set the cache size in DOS and Windows independently. However, do not run it with Norton's Speed Disk or you will have to reformat it.

With 8MB you don't need the few k extra you can get from this area. Regards _____________________________________________________________________ Runar.Molstad@Norway.NO.NCR
