Maybe this belongs in net.flame but, what the hey! Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Just about the time I think I'm on a network full of brilliant, erudite scholars responsible for creating the mechanisms which will be the foundation of future societies I discover words like 'persuit' littering the disk. Please understand, I too corrupt the English language from time to time with misspellings, dangling participles, and disjoint parenthetical expressions. We all make mistakes. The thing that galls me is that incorrect spellings get propagated until, after the 10th appearance of a misspelling, I am driven to !grep '^word' /usr/dict/words or (more often) actually pick up a copy of Webster's latest to discover a new word. I understand that in some liberal arts schools they still use books. Ones that have been edited and checked for spelling errors. Terribly low tech. stuff for an engineering school but...... O.K.! You're right! This is a flame! Of course I'm not mad at anybody! It goes here anyway because this is where the 'persuit' is going on. (God! I hope I didn't misspell anything here. It'll get propagated through hundreds of articles.) Slightly tongue in check, John Cornelius Western Scientific
