Hi,

I need help on doing Chinese character I/O on an application that
supports international character I/O. Can someone point me to the
right direction as to where to find Chinese language systems, Chinese
fonts, Chinese character I/O application toolkits, etc. or better yet
find a toolkit that can support international languages including Chinese
and Japanese. My application is developed on an IBM AT running Microsoft
Windows 3.0. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. My email
   address is:

   Thanks in advanced.

Help, I have a Packard Bell 386SX with VGA built in on the motherboard. The
VRAM is Phoenix. The VGA has 640*480*256 color. I ahve persistently tried to
rig Windows 3.0 for 256 color but to no avail. The only drivers I have are for
Windows 2.0 and they don't work. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you.

I am doing some work for a company running MASS-90 accounting software from
State-of-the-Art Software. This package runs over a Novell Network, and
handles its own print spooling. The problem I'm running into is that it
tends to cancel an outstanding "CAPTURE..." command (to redirect LPT output
to the network printer).  Normally, this would be only an inconvenience;
however, when running MASS-90 under MS WINDOWS, the CAPTURE command is
cancelled for ALL software running under the WINDOWS session, requiring
the users to completely exit the packages from which they with to print,
go to DOS, execute another CAPTURE command, re-enter the package, reload the
information (document, spreadsheet, etc.), and re-issue the print.

Any hints/suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks. Peter.

When I run 'win' i get the first startup screen ( The one that says
Windows 3.0 etc.) and the system hangs. If I run 'win /r' it works
fine.

Subject: DR-DOS 5.0 with networked Windows 3.0

Help! I appear to have a problem getting a netwoked version of
Windows 3,0 starting under DR-DOS 5.0. Under various other versions
of DOS (MS-DOS 3.3, 4.01 and earlier 2.xx versions) there is no problem
getting Windows 3.0 to run.

How the networked version works is this; the user is directed to the
directory on the server (the 'H:\WINDOWS\' directory on our VAX and
then the Windows is started by the command, in a batch file:
C:\WINDOWS\WIN - normally this works fine.

But - under DR-DOS 5.0 I get the initial Windows 3.0 title screen and then
when that clears the hourglass pops up in the middle (I can move it
around the screen, but that's all I can do) and I get a message saying that
it couldn't find the executable Windows file.

Why?

Also it seems that I'm having a little problem with the memory management
 - it just doesn't 'feel' quite right. Has anyone managed to run ANY
form of Windows 3.0 (i.e. networked or disk based) and can they send me
a copy of their CONFIG.SYS and, perhaps, the relevant bits of their
AUTOEXEC.BAT files?

Please help/advise as I'm goin' up the wall.

Regards,

           Malc Smith.
