[comp.windows.ms] HP IGC-10 with Windows 3 in 486/33T Vectra

I'm trying to install an HP IGC-10 graphics card in a Vectra 486/33T.
Everything seems to work alright except for Windows 3.0. The
installation goes through, but when Windows starts there are no
letters in the menus. I tried installation both with 8514 fonts and
with VGA fonts.

Also, when I start a DOS window under Windows, the background is not
black but contains whatever happened to be behind the window when it
appeared. It remains the same even if the window is moved, no redraw
inside the window.

Any experience with this, anybody? Local HP seems not to have it...

I have a Vectra 486/25 (NOT a 'T' version) with an IGC-10. I have been
running Windows 3.0 for a while without the problems that you
mentioned. I have had a problem which may be similar. With at least
two programs, Ami Pro and Legacy, there are certain lines which do not
show on the screen, but which will print out fine. This problem is not
there with the regular VGA card, so I believe it is an IGC-10 problem.
I haven't figured out what to do about it yet, but I still have some
things to try.

I assume that you have tried running as minimal of a system as you can
(not LAN, etc.) and with only extended memory. Also, I assume that you
are using the DGIS drivers and not the TIGA driver. I had similar
troubles with the TIGA driver in 600x800 mode, but this is advertised
to not work. Have you tried slowing down the speed ( a long shot, but
easy to try)? I am definitely no expert on the Vectra 486 & Windows
3.0 but if I can help with information on my setup, please ask. If you
like, send me your system.ini file, a directory listing of your IGC-10
files, your config.sys file, a printout of your EZCONFIG setup, and
whatever else seems appropriate. Hopefully you have gotten it to run
OK by now.
