How much does a Volvo DL cost in Sweden? Can the European version be retrofitted to comply with EPA & DOT standards? I think I once read that Volvo conversions were more difficult than BMW and Mercedes conversions. In support of my suspicions, I found that while last Sunday's NY TIMES had many ads offering conversions of BMWS, and Mercedes automobiles, I didn't see one ad advertising Volvo conversions. sd brener

When I picked up 3 Volvos at the factory, the US sticker price was much less
than the Swedish sticker price. Their price includes VAT and other taxes
which we don't pay on ones for export. You would have to go through an
export agency to save the taxes. We always save over $1000 even including
cost of home shipment, insurance, registration, and customs fees when we
buy the standard US spec car in Sweden. We just use the Volvo of America
