[comp.windows.ms] QEMM5.12 vs Win 3.00a vs Decstation 316sx vs EMM386 vs himem

osyjm@caesar.cs.montana.edu (Jaye Mathisen) (05/08/91)

Is it possible to use qemm5.12 with Windows 3.0a and get a little expanded
memory available on bootup? I'd like to load my PCSA software into EMS, and
then fire up windows in enhanced mode.

Something tells me this isn't doable.

Setting IngoreInstalledEMM doesn't seem to cut it either...

Please e-mail and I'll summmarize and post if demand warrants.

  Jaye,

If I understand your question correctly, the answer is YES! I am not
sure why you need EMS for your application, however, after reading the
QEMM386 manual and the readme file for system.ini, you should see clearly
what parameters need to be set on your QEMM386.sys line and in your
system.ini file. You will have to tell windows not to allocate any
EMS in the area that you are using and that it is EMS.

  Good Luck,
