[comp.windows.ms] Programming for multiple window systems

jim@saylor.mn.org (Jim Anderson) (05/11/91)

I have an application with a custom GUI. The GUI is internally a poll
driven system. A bunch of work was done to convert the interface to
an event driven system using the HP widget set. I now find myself in
the situation that I need to finish the port to a Sun Sparc. I also
need to port to DOS Windows 3.0, the Data General Aviion, the Silicon
Graphics Personal Iris, as well as potential ports to an HP workstation
(either 300 or 700 series) and perhaps another workstation brand.

My question is what types of common programming interfaces are available
for the above platforms. I know about XVT, but $20K to port to the DG
and the SGI are not going down well with management. Are there any
other packages competing with XVT???

Thanks for any help anybody can give me.

(BTW, if you have problems getting through to me, try jim@aob.mn.org
or wait a day and try again).
