Hi, Has anybody installed the Microsoft Excel / Powerpoint "Working Models" on a machine with monochrome VGA ? I have an IBM PS/2 with mono VGA and the installation procedure refuses to install saying -- " You need EGA / VGA to install". Microsoft people said " You must not have a VGA !" sanjeev nqdy@vax5.cit.cornell.edu

I've used the working models with no problem on my mono VGA -- the super VGA board in my machine doesn't know what I've got plugged into it... In fact, the Working Models are shipped with CompuAdd laptops, which of course are only mono. Could it be that the PS/2 knows what equipment is attached (or doesn't?) and tells the software? I have Windows set up with the 16-color drivers, by the way. I don't recall if I tried the WM with the 2-color drivers or not. You might want to go into Windows Setup and check to make sure that Windows recognized your VGA. If the display is listed as something other than VGA, change it to VGA and see if that helps. That might even include changing "VGA WITH MONO MONITOR" to "VGA." Good luck... Michael Flory (mjf@cunixb.cc.columbia.edu)
