Story: I came home one night, and my illustrious compadre, SO, wife informed me that there was a problem. Upon entering PROGMAN window there was the distinct sensation of a lot of missing items; like all of Accessories, most of games, and TASKMAN was nowhere to be found. The question: How to configure various commands so that, if a menu which provides security (passwords required), I could do the following: - Permit non-skilled users free access to the menu which controls which applications can be called up (games, write, calendar); but prevents access to TASKMAN, Delete, DOS, etc ? - Allow for a skilled user (such as myself) free access to all functions, without jeopardizing the "system" to a loose novice running free .. ? As a stop gap, I have set up HDM (Hard DIsk Menu) such that the default PRPOGMAN.INI comes up with only GAMES, WRITE, ACCESSORIES, etc. An alternate line in another part of HDM has the command line "win excel" which brings up the rest of what I need. I'm lookng for a "cleaner" method, like alternate ININ files in separate directories (access password protected) ? I have looked at APORIA, but it doesn't seem to provide what I need. Has anyone solved the problem of being able to restrict access to the "dangerous" window tools, while permitting ease of access to novice and expert alike ? -Bob +------------------------------------------------------------+ | Usual Disclaimer: I'm solely responsible for my actions. | | Bob Early early@3988.dec.com | | Please reply by electonic mail only.
