I am loosing my sanity.
Got a Canon BubbleJet BJ-10e printer a couple of days ago. Seems to be
working just fine - except for Windows. I've just seen that
UNRECOVERABLE APPLICATION ERROR
once too many. So far I have done some experimenting - even
reinstalled my whole hard disk (along with Windows & applications)
with NO special quirks. No hope.
Points covered so far:
Windows Write barf
Word for Windows 1.1 barf
Designer 3.02 barf
Ventura Publisher for Windows barf
Adobe Type Manager 1.0 on/off barf/barf
CANON10E.DRV 1.0 barf
CANON130.DRV 1.0 barf
180/180 dpi barf
360/360 dpi barf
various DIP settings barf/barf/barf...
Use Print Manager on/off barf/barf
The machine is a 386sx w/4MB RAM, HIMEM.SYS, SMARTDRV.SYS, 4DOS 3.30
(XMS swapped), MS-DOS 5.0.333beta. Nothing special.
Is the driver buggy or what? Is there a newer version available? Am I
losing my mind (yes)?
The crash seems to happen when the Print Manager has received all or
most of the stuff and is kindly considering about giving it to the
printer. After the application is terminated, there is nothing in the
queue. To make it more fun, it doesn't always happen - small and
simple drawings / texts just MAY get through. Sometimes.
Hints, anyone?
Luru
