True the Fiero does have a relatively large turning circle for such a small car. However it is in the ball park with other sports cars. Another important item is steering quickness. Road&Track uses a handy steering index which is arrived at by taking the turning circle and multiplying it by the number of steering wheel turns lock to lock then dividing this number by 100. For example, on the Mazda RX-7: 31.5 ft x 3.7 turns/100 = 1.17 As one can see the steering index, of the Fiero, is in the ballpark with other sporty cars shown below: Model Turns Turning Circle Steering Index Bertone X1/9 3.0 32.6 ft .98 Ferrari 308 GTI 3.3 39.4 ft 1.30 Lamb.
