I am looking at hooking up a computer running Windows 3.0 to our Ethernet on campus. I would like to know if there are any TCP/IP packages designed for running under Windows. I know that I can probably run one of the many TCP/IP packages in a DOS Window but this is not the preferred method. Particularly, I am looking for a Windowed version of TN3270, but I will accept any suggestions for any parts of the TCP/IP suite. Any help would be appreciated, Mark Strandskov Central Michigan University 34hlefg@cmuvm.bitnet

I just got a copy of NetManage's NEWT, which is a purely Windows based TCP/IP package - it works only under windows, since it is a DLL rather than a TSR. Their telnet actually runs as a Windows window, using windows fonts, etc. It also includes Trivial FTP, which I haven't found very useful. The next release, due in a couple of weeks, will have multiple protocol stack support, a mail application, SMTP DLL, and a full FTP application and DLL. It requires an NDIS driver for whatever kind of interface card you are using. Call NetManage in Cupertino at (408) 257-6404 for more info, ordering instructions, etc. --ravi Ravi Pandya Xanadu Operating Company 550 California Avenue Suite 101 Palo Alto, CA 94306 415 856 4112 ext 122 415 856 2251 fax ravi@xanadu.com

Before purchasing any commercial packages, I recommend you to try WinQVT/Net, which is a shareware TCP/IP for Windows 3.0. This software uses packet driver interface, so you'll need such driver for your LAN board. Here are some useful anonymous ftp addresses to get everything you'll need: netlab.usu.edu FTP software packet driver for NDIS updates /netwatch (latest version is 1.07) grape.ecs.clarkson.edu Packet drivers for a number of LAN boards /dos/tcpip (Clarkson Packet Driver library) cica.cica.indiana.edu WinQVT/Net package (latest version is 1.65) Lauri Signature?
