[comp.windows.ms] which is the diff between the two package levels of ATM ??

wignall@latcs1.lat.oz.au (Chris) (05/16/91)

HI ,
After reading all about ATM, and the problems I have
had with WFW, I have decided to buy ATM.

My question is which is the difference between the two
different levels of the package - one costs approx. $170 (australian)
	and the other appprox $325.

		thanks in advance Chris Wignall

I assume that one is the basic ATM package (ATM program, Times,
Helvetica, Courier fonts), while the other is the ATM/Plus Pack combo,
which brings the collection of fonts up to the full LaserWriter Plus
complement (i.e. Palatino, AvantGarde, Bookman, Century Schoolbook,
etc.)

The Plus Pack also provides the "foundry" utility which allows you
to make bitmap fonts for the HP LaserJet and compatibles, and
screenfonts for various applications (Ventura, WP, etc.).

Note however, that the "foundry" utility will not work with P.D.
Type1 fonts such as can be found on CICA, nor will it allow you to
completely redesign the character set of the bitmap fonts it
produces.
