Help. I have been attempting to use version 1.6 of winqvtnet to replace the Clarkson TN3270.EXE and TELBIN.EXE terminal emulators on an ethernet lan using the CLARKSON Western Digital packet driver. It works fine on all of the unix and pc hosts on the lan, but gets nowhere on our terminal server, which permits access to the university IBM mainframe by emulating a 3270 terminal. Basically the connection with the terminal server is never established and no error messages appear on the qvt console screen. My guess is that the terminal server host is sending 'handshake' queries to an accessing terminal and that qvtnet does not know how to respond. Perhaps the qvtnet .rc file entry for how to respond to an ENQ (^E) relates to this, but I do not know the proper response for a vt220 terminal! The Clarkson TN3270.EXE and TELBIN.EXE programs appear to correctly respond to this handshaking, as they easily establish the connection. However, when they do make the connection, there appears to be a parity or protocol problem, as all of the characters received from the terminal server have their high bits set and appear as graphic-greek characters on my pc screen. This might relate to the problem that qvtnet has as well! Any help that anyone can give me will be greatly appreciated. Although QVTNET appears to be a super convenient program for accessing an ethernet lan from the pc windows environment, unless I can attach to the university IBM mainframe through the terminal server, it is of little use to me. Unfortunately, most of our central computing services require a gateway through the IBM mainframe. -- Don Roufa E-Mail: DROUFA@MATT.KSU.KSU.EDU // | / /--- | | Division of Biology DROUFA@KSUVM.KSU.EDU // |/ |__ | | Kansas State Univ.
