[comp.windows.ms] Disk error in Windows

bradford@bu-ast.bu.edu (David Bradford) (05/28/91)

We are having an odd problem here and I wondered if anyone had any ideas.
Whenever we return from an application (anything that leaves the main windows
screen, as far as I can tell) we receive the following error message:

			     System Error

Can not read from drive a: (grave accent over the a)

It seems that somehow windows thinks there is a drive a(grave):. If you tell
it to ignore the problem you can go on and everything works fine. Other than
this, everything works fine, it's just annoying to get this notice every time
you switch between applications.

The set: Zenith 286 pc, 3 meg's memory, Windows 3.0, PC-NFS version 3.5,
Lotus 1-2-3 (I forget the version). Please e-mail any responses to me and if
I find a solution I will post a followup. Thanks in advance for any help.
