You are not hallucinating.

The file which has the driver information is setup.inf. Sounds like somehow
you wound up with an abbreviated version of this. This happened to me when
I installed special video drivers after installing Windows. I think, (but
don't quote me on this) that the setup.inf file should be around 49K in length.

Good luck.

I would like to know if anyone has either a source or actual printer drivers
for Panasonic Printers: KXP-1091 and KXP-1124 for windows. I use the
printer drivers for epson that my printer emulates, however, the printer
quality is fairly low. I had a similar problem when I was using Word 4.0 until
I got an actual driver which utilized my printer's capabilities. Now that I
have switched to Windows and Word 4 Win., I would like to get new drivers
specifically for the panasonic. I have posted a request on CompuServe to no
avail. If anyone has information, I would appreciate a reply via NetNews or to
MEDLIN@CEMVAX.MSU.EDU. Thanks a lot.

Use the NEC P6 driver instead of the 24-pin Epson driver. That way you
can get 360x360 dpi resolution. The only downside is that the hardware
fonts don't match up as well as with the Epson driver. However if you
don't use the fonts built into the printer anyways, this isn't a
problem. The printer output with the NEC driver is *GREAT* and if you
use an on-the-fly font scaling package like Adobe Type Manager, you have
no real need for hardware font support at all. Strongly recommended...

Lately there has been uploaded a revised printer driver for Epson compatible
24 pin printers to cica.cica.indiana.edu. It's called 24PIN.ZIP and resides
in ~ftp/pub/pc/win3/drivers/printer. It contains two replacement drivers
for the epson24.drv supplied with windows, and a fairly good TMS RMN font.

I also got a message from somebody stating that he's found a modified
KX-P1124 printer driver called 1124WIN.ZIP with improved handling of the
Roman font. I haven't tried it yet, but will do so if I can get access to
it.

Give the first one mentioned a try, it's worth,

I'm looking for source code for a sample printer driver for windows.
Any exist out there? How about the format of the printer driver files (ie.
EPSON9.DRV) documented anywhere?
(for that matter, the format of any of the windows specific files documented
anywhere?)

I would like to get a sample printer driver also, as would others.

However, you'll need to purchase the DDK from Microsoft, which
includes examples of printer drivers, including source code.

By the way, the source code would include 'C' and Assembler.

	I hear it's not a pretty picture.

Let me know what you find.
