I am looking for a program that will change the behavior of an active window. I want to be able to leave the active window behind an inactive one. I have tried raise, which will make the window under the mouse cursor become active, but will not make it active without also bringing the window to the front. I frequently find it useful to have two text windows which overlap yet be able to see the left hand portion of both windows. TWM for X allows this sort of behavior; you must explicitly click on the menu bar to bring the window to the front. Any pointers to such a program or confirmation that this is / isn't possible would be appreciated. Rob jsims@vuse.vanderbilt.edu
