[comp.windows.ms] Problems with Windows 3 and AutoCad386 10.1

Anders.Nilsson@dc.luth.se (Anders Nilsson) (06/03/91)

Hello Windows and AutoCad experts

I got a problem with running Windows 3.0 and AutoCad386 10.0

My problem is after i have run a Windows session all the extended
memory seams to go on holliday because when i run Acad and type
status on the command line i got the ansver that no expanded memory
in aviable so Acad will swap to disk and become slower than if i run
Acad on 8088 machine.
I got a feeling that it is my version of himem.sys cause this problem
or is i all wrong?
I have test the programs on two different machines with the same result.

Machine one configuration
IBM PS/2 mod 55-x31 with 4 Mb ram
version of himem.sys ver 2.60 date 04/05/90
PC-DOS ver 3.30

Machine two
Crown 486/33 (Hawk motherboard) with 8 Mb ram
himem.sys ver 2.60 date 04/05/90
MS-DOS ver 4.01

AutoCad386 configuration

  -hwivec 50h
  -minswfsize 400000
  -swapdefdisk
  -swapchk off
  -intmap 08h
  -vscan 20000

One way to solve it is to run emm386.sys in config.sys and make some
of the memory expanded instead. For me isn't that a god solution
because on the IBM i want to use all the memory both in windows and
AutoCad. My solution this far is to reboot the machine after i have
run my Windows session.
Is there someone who have hade the same problem and if so did you
solve in a better way than i so would i be greatfull if you could
share your results with me.

Tanks in advance.
